Hello! I am a musician. I also love nature, yoga, burns, potlucks, parties, and nice down to earth folks. There is a good chance my husband and I'll be moving to your city this summer. Does anyone have any advice or impressions that will help ease my transition from Jersey Girl to New Mexican. All comments would be greatly appreciated! Love, Rita

Re: How do you like it in Albuquerque?
Fri, November 28, 2008 - 4:38 PMI would say that you can expect a slower pace for the most part. Probably you will not recognize Albuqueque as a city, it is more like a huge suburban sprawl with a few blocks called down town. I think you can enjoy it, though you will need a lot more hand lotion. Take it easy the first couple of weeks because the city is 5000 feet above sea level. You may think you are having heart problems if you try to run or exercise before you have aclimated. -

Sat, November 29, 2008 - 9:31 AMI think the slower pace is what I am looking forward to the most. I'm sure I won't have withdrawal from the frenetic energy I deal with on a daily basis. Thanks for the input! -

Re: How do you like it in Albuquerque?
Sun, November 30, 2008 - 7:16 AMYou are welcome. I forgot to mention that distance is the biggest thing that people find hard to get used to. Santa Fe is 50 miles from Albuquerque. No other really close cities. Going to the next state is not like going to pensylvania or New York from New Jersey, it is more like going from New Jersey to Georgia. New Mexico is the 3rd largest state (square miles), and it is surrounded by the second largest (Texas), the 4 & 5th largest (Arizona and Colorado). It is almost like going to another country, though you will find all the same chain restaruants and stores here and the language is almost the same as well. :) -

Re: How do you like it in Albuquerque?
Sun, November 30, 2008 - 1:50 PMI didn't realize NM was the 3rd largest state! I guess I'll just have to get used to more driving. Hopefully the traffic out there won't compare with what I drive through now...
I don't think the chain restaurants are what I'll miss most about NJ, but maybe the corporate logos on billboards will somehow end up calming me...
